Tokayev to Aliyev: Our peoples are bound by brotherhood

Tengrinews.kz – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, citing Akorda.

Tokayev noted that it was a “great honor” for him to welcome Aliyev on a state visit to Kazakhstan.

“This is a very important event in terms of further strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between our countries. Without any exaggeration, we can say that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are not only friendly states but also brotherly nations. Therefore, developing multifaceted cooperation with your country is a top priority for us.
Moreover, under your strong leadership, Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its position, enhanced its authority on the international stage, and plays a very important role as a regional power in your part of the world. For us, the development of trade, economic cooperation, and political partnership is a very important task,” emphasized the Head of State.

In turn, Ilham Aliyev stated that “today Kazakhstan demonstrates a high level of development.”

“The country maintains socio-political stability, and the economy is self-sufficient. We are following with great interest the reforms you are implementing and fully support your course toward the modernization of the country and the strengthening of its potential.
As for our bilateral relations, you noted their strategic and allied nature. We are committed to strengthening cooperation in all areas. Today, during our talks and at the meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, we will once again go over a broad agenda and outline further steps to deepen our partnership,” said the President of Azerbaijan.

The heads of state thoroughly discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, agricultural, and transit-transport sectors. Special attention was given to cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

It should be recalled that Ilham Aliyev arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit at the invitation of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev the previous day. The President personally greeted Aliyev at the airport in Astana.

Earlier, in July 2024, during Aliyev’s visit to Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with him in Astana. At that time, the two leaders discussed the progress of joint projects in investment, industry, energy, transport, and logistics. Special attention was given to the effective operation of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to President Tokayev for the traditionally warm welcome and reaffirmed Baku’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Astana across the entire spectrum of intergovernmental relations.
