Tengrinews.kz – The President has signed the law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Issues of Physical Culture and Sports, as well as on the Elimination of Excessive Legislative Regulation."
The law aims to improve state policy in the field of physical culture and sports development.
The authorized body will be responsible for developing national and regional lists of priority sports, determining the list of elite (high-performance) sports, and establishing the procedure for their funding from the state budget.
“Priority sports will be approved based on achievements on the international stage. These include sports featured in the Olympic, Paralympic, Deaflympic, Asian, and Para-Asian Games, as well as national sports. Provisions regarding the accreditation of sports federations have been improved, with federations now categorized as national and local,” the Akorda press service stated.
A ban has been introduced on funding foreign legionnaires from the state budget and funds of quasi-public sector entities.
“From now on, public funding will cover four areas: elite sports (including priority sports), operations of public sports institutions, mass sports, and development of sports infrastructure,” Akorda’s press service noted.
Unified athlete training standards have been developed, including measures to strengthen traditional values and patriotic education. The concept of “national standards of sports training” has been introduced.
The authorized body is now also empowered to take measures against violations of anti-doping regulations.
The full text of the law will be published in official print media.
