Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed laws ratifying agreements between Kazakhstan and Peru, according to Akorda.
The Head of State signed the laws “On Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Peru on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters,” “On Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Peru on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons,” and “On Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Peru on Extradition.”
It should be recalled that earlier the Senate deputies ratified three agreements with Peru. They concern the extradition of criminals, assistance in criminal investigations, and the transfer of convicted persons and suspects.
The document regulates how the law enforcement agencies of the two countries will cooperate. The parties may assist each other, for example, by transferring detainees, tracing and arresting assets, obtaining financial information, and carrying out confiscation.
Under the treaty, Kazakhstan and Peru will also assist each other in criminal investigations. This includes practical support such as the transfer of documents and summonses, the search for persons and property, the conduct of searches and seizures, as well as the provision of evidence and necessary information.
