Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law on ratification of the agreement with Uzbekistan in the field of ecology and environmental protection.

The law "On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection" has been officially approved and will soon be published in the press.

The agreement is aimed at developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in environmental protection. The partnership includes joint actions to prevent and control air, water and waste pollution, preserve biological diversity, protect ecosystems from degradation and prevent sandstorms.

It also provides for joint work to improve the environmental situation in the Aral Sea basin.

The agreement provides for scientific research to monitor the environment, exchange information on the state of nature in border areas and take measures in emergency situations that affect both countries.

Earlier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
