Tokayev personally expresses condolences to Emir of Qatar over death of his father

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted Sheikh Hamad’s invaluable contribution to building a strong and successful State of Qatar.

“Many landmark historical achievements of modern Qatar and the country’s high standing on the world stage are inseparably linked to his name. Sheikh Hamad was a statesman of global stature and a true friend of the Kazakh people,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.

According to the President, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani made an enormous contribution to the establishment and successful development of Kazakh-Qatari relations.

He visited Kazakhstan twice on official visits, and during his first trip, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the Emir as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Head of State noted with deep gratitude that, at Sheikh Hamad’s initiative, the Al-Farabi Mosque was built in Astana, and a number of social and infrastructure projects were implemented in the first years of Kazakhstan’s independence. All of this is clear evidence of true friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.

“At this moment of sorrow, we pray that the Almighty grants the deceased a place in paradise,” the President of Kazakhstan said.

For his part, the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his visit and personal support, which reflects the special nature of the brotherly relations between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Qatar.

At the initiative of the Qatari side, the parties exchanged views on the current international situation, including developments in the Middle East.

In conclusion, the Head of our State reaffirmed his invitation to the Emir of Qatar to visit Kazakhstan at a time convenient for him. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
