Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed authorities to closely monitor suspicious financial flows.
During a meeting of the Security Council on combating drug abuse, the Head of State stressed the importance of keeping questionable financial transactions within the focus of law enforcement agencies.
Tokayev also emphasized the unacceptability of promoting drugs among young people, noting the worrying trend of romanticizing the use of illegal substances and alcohol on the internet and media industries.
Special attention was given to improving the detection, prevention, and punishment of drug-related offenses.
“The production and sale of any type of drugs must be strictly prohibited and placed under the toughest state control,” the President said.
Tokayev underlined the need to strengthen efforts against transnational organized crime and to expose the organizers of drug shops and laboratories.
At the end of the meeting, the President noted that combating drug abuse is impossible without the active involvement of society as a whole. He issued a series of specific instructions to the government, regional akims (governors), and relevant state bodies to step up preventive measures against drug addiction and to intensify the fight against the drug trade.
