Tengrinews.kz — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) will be held on May 28–29 in Astana. He made the announcement at a regular SEEC meeting in St. Petersburg, citing the Akorda press service..
Concluding his remarks, Tokayev noted that the member states face challenging tasks that require well-considered decisions and coordinated action.
He recalled that next year the responsible role of chairmanship within the EAEU bodies will pass to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is committed to continued joint work intended to ensure new achievements and contribute to improving the well-being of the peoples of the association.
Tokayev also expressed gratitude to Alexander Lukashenko for Belarus’s successful chairmanship over the outgoing year.
A number of documents were adopted following the meeting.
The summit was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as representatives of Indonesia, Iran, and Cuba.
In his speech, the President of Kazakhstan stated that the combined GDP of the EAEU countries is expected to grow by 2 percent in 2025.
According to Tokayev, the EAEU can lay claim to the role of a global transport and logistics hub.
