Tengrinews.kz – When speaking about the Constitution, it is important to acknowledge the dedicated work of the First President, Nursultan Nazarbayev. This was stated by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, according to Akorda.
While addressing a scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution, the President of Kazakhstan recalled that in 1993, the first Basic Law of sovereign Kazakhstan was adopted, which established the country’s constitutional framework. However, it soon became clear that a new Constitution was needed to reflect the changing realities. A special council was created for this purpose, which included prominent domestic lawyers and foreign experts. Millions of citizens took part in discussions on the draft Constitution, and thousands of suggestions were submitted.
“When speaking about the Constitution, it is important to give credit to the hard work of the First President, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev. As Head of State, he played a decisive role in the adoption of the Constitution,” emphasized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
At the same time, the President also noted that Kazakhstan has, for the first time, introduced a single seven-year presidential term and a ban on close relatives of the president holding high-ranking positions — calling it a unique political and legal innovation.
