Tengrinews.kz – Speaking at the General Debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the political reforms underway in Kazakhstan.

“Amid global turbulence, we are pursuing a bold transformation policy aimed at building a Just Kazakhstan. Over the past three years, unprecedented political and economic reforms have been implemented in our region,” he stated.

The Head of State noted that a single seven-year presidential term was approved through a national referendum, strengthening democratic accountability.

Kazakhstan is guided by the formula: “Strong President – Influential Parliament – Accountable Government.”

“Driven by the desire to modernize Kazakhstan, I have also proposed holding a national referendum on the creation of an unicameral Parliament.
Our goal is the continuous improvement of the political system to enhance its transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness to public demands. The core principle of these reforms is: Law and Order must prevail above all else.”

According to Tokayev, only governance based on common sense and the rule of law can ensure public order and protect the rights of all citizens.

“This creates favorable conditions for international investment, trade cooperation, and the dynamic development of the country in a broader context. Protecting the interests of law-abiding citizens is our top priority,” Tokayev emphasized.

This priority, he added, is grounded in justice, accountability, and mutual respect.
