The Head of State highlighted sectors intended to give new momentum to cooperation between the two countries.

At the same time, expanding transport and logistics ties is of paramount importance.

“Kazakhstan is one of the key transport and logistics hubs in the Eurasian space. Today, 85 percent of cargo turnover between China and Europe passes through our territory. We pay special attention to further expanding our transit potential, which is why we consider Iran an important partner in this area. Kazakhstan is ready to work jointly on the development of port terminals, improving logistics, and increasing transit cargo volumes,” the President of Kazakhstan said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that a number of joint projects are already being implemented. In particular, there are plans to build a transport and logistics terminal at the Shahid Rajaee seaport.

“This will open the way for the direct delivery of Kazakh products to global markets. We are interested in establishing links between the ports of Aktau and Kuryk and the Iranian ports of Amirabad and Anzali. There are also plans to establish partnerships with the seaports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar. It is important for us to develop multimodal corridors connecting Central Asia with the Persian Gulf, and the Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran railway plays a special role in this regard. Cargo transportation volumes along this route may double by 2030, which will undoubtedly have a tremendous economic effect,” the President of Kazakhstan emphasized.

According to the President, revitalizing trade relations in the region will make it possible to launch new industrial projects. In addition, this will create conditions for opening service centers and production facilities.

“The private sectors of both sides have already identified a number of promising areas for cooperation, such as the creation of a joint Iranian–Kazakh shipping consortium in the Caspian Sea; the construction of warehouses and an agricultural distribution center at the port of Aktau; the establishment of a joint food production and packaging plant in Kazakhstan; the opening of an export park for Iranian construction materials in Almaty; and the development of cooperation in the fields of mineral resources, raw material processing, and regional exports,” the President of Iran said.

Masoud Pezeshkian also stated that he supports the establishment of a joint Iranian–Kazakh Trade Council, the launch of direct flights, simplified issuance of business visas, and the organization of trade exhibitions in both countries.
