Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined five key principles for a sustainable future at the plenary session of the Regional Environmental Summit, according to Akorda.
The Head of State noted that the summit serves as a reminder that protecting our planet is the shared responsibility of all humanity.
“This is about the future of all people, and above all, the younger generation. It is not only an environmental task — it is a profound moral duty, an economic necessity, and a strategic priority for preserving peace and stability,” he said.
Tokayev also stressed that a common vision of a sustainable future must be based on the following key principles:
- responsibility to our citizens and future generations;
- cooperation that goes beyond borders and sectors;
- fairness in access to resources, technologies, and opportunities;
- practical actions that deliver tangible results;
- and, finally, solidarity among countries, regardless of their size or level of development.
“The adoption of the Astana Declaration on Environmental Solidarity in Central Asia and a number of important agreements reached within the framework of the summit reflect our commitment to these principles and mark important steps toward strengthening regional environmental partnership. I am confident that today’s discussions will be meaningful and will lead to concrete joint initiatives that will allow us to turn our shared vision of a sustainable future into practical action that benefits our peoples,” the Head of State said.
