Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, Chair of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, according to a statement from Akorda.

President Tokayev emphasized that Matviyenko’s visit is a significant event, not only for strengthening inter-parliamentary relations but also for expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia.

"Relations between our countries are on an upward trajectory. Recently, President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin paid a state visit to our country, which gave a strong impetus to the further development of our strategic partnership and alliance. I am optimistic about the future of our cooperation," Tokayev stated.

The President highlighted the vital role of inter-parliamentary diplomacy in fostering bilateral ties, noting that parliamentarians contribute significantly to advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.

Valentina Matviyenko expressed gratitude for the meeting and shared her pleasure in visiting Kazakhstan with a representative parliamentary delegation.

She conveyed warm greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who praised the outcomes of his recent visit to Astana.

"The visit was truly productive and fruitful. Most importantly, our growing cooperation is characterized by mutual benefit and respect. Thanks to the efforts of the presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia, our bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level. Whether it is mutual trade, investments, major industrial and energy projects, or agricultural cooperation, these are all tangible examples of our strong strategic partnership and alliance," Matviyenko emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed pressing issues related to trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

Earlier, during his visit to Astana Hub, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev tasked the government with accelerating the development and adoption of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.
