Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Aslambek Mergaliyev, according to Akorda's statement.
The Head of State was informed about the performance of the judicial system in 2024. Aslambek Mergaliyev reported that the priorities of the courts include protecting the rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests of citizens and entrepreneurs, as well as ensuring the rule of law.
The President was briefed that the number of cases and materials reviewed is growing, with the judiciary achieving the highest quality of justice delivery in the past five years (98.9 percent of decisions by local courts were deemed lawful and justified).
The use of reconciliation procedures in civil and administrative cases is also increasing. Additionally, due to expanded jurisdiction, the number of cases reviewed with the participation of jurors has doubled, rising from 147 to 261.
"The Chairman of the Supreme Court spoke about the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, which contribute to the development of consistent judicial practices and significantly ease the workload of judges (robotic systems were used to review a third of cases and materials—665,000 out of 2 million).
Aslambek Mergaliyev also provided information on the establishment of cassation courts and legislative initiatives aimed at strengthening judicial independence and expanding the scope of administrative justice," the Akorda statement said.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of ensuring the rule of law and increasing public trust in the judiciary.
