The President was briefed on the launch of large-scale geological exploration in the Chu-Sarysu copper basin in Kazakhstan. Ivanhoe Mines previously announced an initial investment of $18.7 million for subsurface studies at the site, with plans to increase total investment to $115 million over the next four years.
Friedland noted that the project would employ advanced airborne geophysical technologies and digital data analysis. According to him, the project—one of the largest copper exploration initiatives in Kazakhstan's history—offers significant potential for the global copper industry.
