Tengrinews.kz - Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with the President of Mongolia in an expanded format.
Following the meeting in a narrow format, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh continued talks with the participation of members of the official delegations of the two countries.
The President of Kazakhstan highly appreciated the results of the meeting in a narrow format and outlined priority areas for the further development of interstate relations with Mongolia.
"The Kazakh and Mongolian peoples are the heirs of the Great Steppe civilization. Taking our relations to a new level of strategic partnership is in the interests of both countries. In Kazakhstan, we have great respect for the Mongolian people and are always happy about the achievements of your country. Currently, large-scale political, economic, and social reforms are being carried out on your initiative. Such important programs as Vision-2050, 'Food Supply and Security', 'Healthy Mongolian' are being implemented," said the Head of our state.
Tokayev recalled that close inter-parliamentary and intergovernmental ties have been established between the two countries. At the same time, there is significant potential for continued cooperation.
"We should increase cooperation in the areas of trade and economics, agriculture, transport and logistics, mining, industry, investment, new technologies and space research. I am confident that the documents that will be signed today will give a serious impetus to the development of political and economic relations," the President noted, emphasizing the importance of timely and high-quality implementation of the agreements reached by the governments of the two countries.
The Head of State also focused on strengthening cultural and humanitarian contacts. He thanked Mongolian athletes for participating in the World Nomad Games in Astana.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also announced his readiness to increase the quota for Mongolian students in Kazakhstan and called for support for joint research into the common historical heritage. In addition, the opportunities that are opening up for joint activities in the fields of environmental, historical, ethnographic, and economic tourism were noted.
"Kazakhstani tour operators are ready to introduce Mongolian tourists to the ancient city of Turkestan, where the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is located, and the Ulytau region, where the mausoleum of Jochi Khan, the eldest son of Genghis Khan, is located, as well as other tourist places. We are interested in developing the Altai tourist cluster with Mongolia, creating joint tourist routes," the Head of State suggested.
Tokayev also invited the President of Mongolia to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit next year.
In turn, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh confirmed Mongolia's interest in strengthening ties with Kazakhstan on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda. He expressed confidence that the agreements reached today will open a new milestone in relations between the two states.
The President of Mongolia called Kazakhstan an important partner of his country and a reliable bridge between the East and the West. According to him, Ulaanbaatar is carefully studying Kazakhstan's experience in economic development and will pay special attention to the effective implementation of bilateral projects in the areas of trade, transport, logistics, agriculture, and space research.
In particular, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh supported Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's proposal to increase the volume of bilateral trade to 500 million dollars.
Earlier, an official welcome ceremony was held for President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev upon his arrival in Mongolia for a state visit.
