Tengrinews.kz - The head of state sent a telegram of condolences to the family of the writer of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Magauin, according to the message of Akorda.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed condolences to the family and friends of the outstanding writer, laureate of the State Prize Mukhtar Magauin in connection with his death.
"Mukhtar Mukanuly was an outstanding master of words, who made a significant contribution to expanding the horizons of Kazakh literature and history. He worked tirelessly to enrich the spiritual being and expand the understanding of the past of our people. His works of art, historical works, essays and memoirs found a wide response in the hearts of readers. The vivid image of Mukhtar Mukanuly, who lived a dignified life and left behind a rich creative legacy, will forever remain in the memory of our people," the telegram says.
On January 10, it became known about the death of Kazakh writer Mukhtar Magauin. His son, Edige Magauin, wrote about this on social networks.
"My father passed away surrounded by his children, at his home in Maryland, USA, on January 9, 2025, at 7:55 PM local time (January 10 at 5:55 AM Kazakhstan time)," Edige Magauin wrote.
Mukhtar Magauin was born on February 2, 1940 in the Semipalatinsk region. Soviet and Kazakh writer, prose writer, publicist, translator, researcher of the folklore heritage of the Kazakhs, Doctor of Philology.
He was awarded the title of People's Writer of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR named after Abai and the International Prize "For Merits in the Turkic World."
Mukhtar Magauin is the author of the works "Children of one father" (Deti odnogo ottsa), "Time of troubles" (Smutnoe vremya), "Shyngys Khan", the historical book "Kazakh Horde" and other works.
