Tengrinews.kz – After a trip to New York, President Tokayev dismissed the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States, according to a statement from Akorda.
By presidential decree, Yerzhan Nygmatullayevich Ashikbayev was relieved of his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States of America.
Yerzhan Ashikbayev was born on June 16, 1974, in Almaty. He graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Kennedy School of Government, and Harvard University. He is a specialist in international relations and holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
He began his diplomatic career in 1998 as a referent in the Department of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa of the Fourth Division. He worked in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in various roles and was also assigned to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgium.
In 2012, he served as Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and official representative of the government.
From 2012 to 2013, he headed the Foreign Policy Center of the Presidential Administration.
In April 2021, Ashikbayev was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the United States by presidential decree.
He holds the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the First Class.
