Tengrinews.kz - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the downside of the total digitalization process is the growth of fraud.
"We are increasingly faced with cases of disinformation and media leaks aimed at manipulating public opinion, discrediting the government, and inciting discord. This creates serious risks for the safety of citizens and stability in the country. But strengthening cybersecurity should in no way slow down the digitalization process," the President said at an extended government meeting.
The Head of State emphasized that it is necessary to consider the issue of legislatively enshrining the responsibility of Internet platforms for the dissemination of destructive content.
"There is an opinion in society that the state's efforts to protect citizens from cyber fraudsters are insufficient. Statistics show negative dynamics: over 20 thousand cases of Internet fraud are registered annually, of which about 80% remain unsolved. Therefore, the government, together with law enforcement agencies and financial regulators, must ensure maximum protection of citizens' personal data," Tokayev noted.
An extended government meeting is being held in Astana with the participation of the President. Today's meeting will summarize the country's socio-economic development for 2024, and define key tasks for the coming period. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Chairman of the National Bank Timur Suleimenov, as well as akims of a number of regions will deliver reports.
