Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the upcoming National Dombra Day.
The Head of State emphasized that the dombra is “the soul and treasure of our people.”
"A true Kazakh is not just a Kazakh — a true Kazakh is the dombra," Tokayev wrote, quoting a well-known saying.
He noted that the dombra is becoming increasingly popular among the younger generation, who are embracing traditional culture and honoring folk customs.
“This is certainly encouraging, because such a respectful attitude toward the creative legacy of our great ancestors has become an integral part of patriotism. True love for the Motherland is the foundation of our statehood. It is wonderful that Kazakh youth understand and support this,” the President wrote on his X page.
Tokayev added that the government will continue to provide comprehensive support for the cultural sector.
He highlighted several artists who have been honored with high national awards, including Kairat Baibosynov, named Hero of Labour of Kazakhstan, and Aigul Ulkenbayeva and Aigul Kossanova, who were awarded the title People’s Artist of Kazakhstan.
“My thanks go to everyone who helps promote our sacred dombra around the world,” Tokayev concluded.
National Dombra Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of July.
