Tengrinews.kz — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in a regular meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), held in St. Petersburg, citing the Akorda press service.
In the narrow-format meeting, alongside the President of Kazakhstan, participated President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
“The meeting focused on reviewing the priority tasks and key areas of work of the Eurasian Economic Union for 2026. In addition, the participants exchanged views on a number of practical issues related to the EAEU’s ongoing activities,” the statement said.
Tokayev arrived in St. Petersburg on an official visit on Sunday, December 21, 2025. The head of state will take part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and an informal meeting of CIS heads of state.
The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is the highest governing body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). It sets the strategy, directions, and prospects for the development of integration within the EAEU and adopts key decisions that are binding on all member states (for example, on the budget, new members, or observer states).
