President Tokayev and President Umaro Sissoco Embalo toured the AIFC during the latter's official visit to Kazakhstan.
During the visit, AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov outlined the center's structure and core activities. He emphasized potential areas of collaboration, including investments, green and Islamic finance, and financial sector training.
The AIFC has attracted $14 billion in investments to date, $6.7 billion of which are portfolio investments via the Astana International Exchange (AIX). The center hosts over 3,400 companies from 85 countries, including six from the African continent.

The presidents were briefed on the AIFC Court, the first precedent-based legal system in Central Asia, as well as the International Arbitration Centre and the Green Finance Centre. They also learned about the AIFC’s Financial Services Authority (AFSA) and its unique regulatory framework.
President Embalo arrived in Kazakhstan on December 18, expressing gratitude to President Tokayev and the Kazakh people for their warm welcome.
Following talks, the presidents issued a joint statement to the press. President Tokayev underscored that President Embalo’s visit exemplifies the shared goals and aspirations that unite the two nations, despite their geographical distance.
