Timur Kulibayev to be considered candidate to the Board of Directors of Russia’s Gazprom

Samruk-Kazyna National Sovereign Wealth Fund Chairman Timur Kulibayev has agreed to be considered as a candidate into the Board of Directors of Russia’s Gazprom, Tengrinews.kz reports. “The proposal is voiced. It has to be considered by Gazprom. I have given my consent. Thus, I will be looking forward to elections”, Kulibayev said when answering journalists’ questions following the Government’s sitting today, May 31. In accordance with President Dmitry Medvedev’s instruction, Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko and Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina are to quit the Gazprom Board of Directors by July 1, with Vice Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov following by October 1. Germany’s ex Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is among the other candidates to be put on Gazprom Board as independent directors.
