Tengrinews.kz – Weather forecasters have issued a new three-day forecast for Astana and Almaty, warning of a shift from scorching heat to thunderstorms and cooler temperatures from July 31 to August 2.
Astana weather
On July 31, the capital will experience partly cloudy skies with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Hail and strong gusts of wind are expected during the day, while fog may form in the morning. Winds will come from the southwest at 9–14 meters per second, with gusts reaching 15–20 meters per second. Temperatures will range from +12…+14°C at night to +22…+24°C during the day.
On August 1, similar weather conditions are expected: partly cloudy skies with intermittent rain and thunderstorms. Hail and squalls may occur in the afternoon. Winds will remain southwesterly at 9–14 meters per second. Temperatures will hover between +12…+14°C at night and +21…+23°C during the day.
On August 2, Astana will remain under partly cloudy skies, with rain and thunderstorms likely. Fog is expected overnight and in the early morning. Winds will shift to the north at 9–14 meters per second, with daytime gusts reaching up to 20 meters per second. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, with nighttime lows of +13…+15°C and daytime highs of +20…+22°C.
Almaty weather
In Almaty, July 31 will bring partly cloudy skies, with a chance of light short-term rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Western winds will blow at 3–8 meters per second, with gusts of up to 18 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures will be between +20…+22°C, rising to +30…+32°C during the day.
On August 1, partly cloudy conditions will continue, with the possibility of short-lived rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winds will come from the east at 3–8 meters per second, with gusts up to 18 meters per second. Temperatures will range from +18…+20°C at night to +30…+32°C in the daytime.
August 2 will bring similar conditions: partly cloudy with short-term rain and thunderstorms. Winds will shift to the southwest at 3–8 meters per second, occasionally gusting to 18 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures will be +18…+20°C, with daytime highs dropping slightly to +28…+30°C.
Earlier, weather services warned that a cyclone over much of Kazakhstan would bring continued rain and thunderstorms, with heavy precipitation and hail possible in some regions. Even in the southern parts of the country, the heat has started to subside.
