Tengrinews.kz - Not one, but three nuclear power plants (NPPs) may be built in Kazakhstan. This was stated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the fourth session of the National Kurultai in Burabay.

"By approving the decision to build the first NPP at the referendum, citizens have launched the solution to this problem. This means that we must approach the development of energy thoughtfully, comprehensively, taking into account the long-term perspective. The issue is not just about meeting the country's current energy needs," the Head of State said.

It is strategically important for Kazakhstan to create a new energy sector that will provide a solid foundation for dynamic economic development for decades to come, the President noted.

"That is why I consider it necessary to build not one, but three nuclear power plants and ultimately form a full-fledged nuclear cluster," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.

In this regard, the Head of State decided to create the Nuclear Energy Agency under the President.

The two-day session of the National Kurultai brings together government officials, public figures, and experts to discuss key issues shaping the country’s future.
