Tengrinews.kz - School textbooks in Kazakhstan will be updated following public complaints about their content, Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev said at a government briefing.
During the briefing, the minister was asked whether major changes would be made to school textbooks, particularly in light of confusing exercises that have circulated online.
"Sometimes you see exercises on the internet that even people with higher education struggle to solve. Will the textbooks be revised, and if so, which subjects will be updated first?" journalists asked Beisembayev.
The minister noted that a new national educational standard will take effect in 2026, and it will incorporate feedback from the public.
"There were many complaints about certain textbooks. We conducted a full analysis and found that out of 600 titles, concerns were raised about 26 textbooks, and only 11 of those complaints were confirmed. Most of the issues relate to repeated subjects – geography, Kazakh language and literature, Russian language and literature. Primarily three subjects, and to a lesser extent, mathematics in the early grades," Beisembayev said.
He added that errors identified in the current materials will be taken into account during the development of the new textbooks.
