Suspected reconnaissance drone crashed in western Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz - A suspected reconnaissance drone has crashed near the village of Uyaly in the Bokey Orda District of the West Kazakhstan region, citing "Moi Gorod."
Local residents discovered the unidentified aerial object, which measures 120 centimeters in length. Police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene.
According to "Moi Gorod," photos from eyewitnesses suggest that the object resembles a Crecerelle reconnaissance UAV developed by the French company Sagem.
The Bokey Orda District akimat (local government administration) confirmed the drone crash but declined to comment further.
The regional police department told a Tengrinews.kz correspondent that an investigation is underway.
"Police, in cooperation with relevant services, are conducting an inspection following the crash of an object resembling an unmanned aerial vehicle near the village of Uyaly in the Bokey Orda District," the department stated.
The Kapustin Yar military testing range, leased by Russia’s Ministry of Defense since 1946, occupies 49.1 percent of the district’s territory. Incidents involving falling debris from rockets and aerial objects are not uncommon in the area, according to "Moi Gorod."
