Tengrinews.kz – Criminal police officers in Astana have detained a suspect using facial recognition technology, according to Polisia.kz.
According to investigators, the 55-year-old suspect entered an apartment by picking the lock and stole two laptops — a Soniva-10 and a Samsung — causing material damage amounting to 500,000 tenge.
The suspect’s identity was established through a facial recognition system. The stolen property has been recovered.
The suspect is currently being held in a temporary detention facility, and a pre-trial investigation is underway.
