Tengrinews.kz - Russia has extradited to Kazakhstan a suspect in the case of grievous bodily harm resulting in death, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the suspect, while at the victim's apartment in Kostanay, struck the victim multiple times in the head and body during a drinking session fueled by animosity. The victim later died from the injuries.

"Seeking to avoid responsibility, the suspect fled and was placed on the international wanted list. While on the run, the suspect committed a robbery in Russia and was sentenced by a Russian court. After serving his sentence in the neighboring country, he was extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is now in custody in a pre-trial detention facility," the statement says.

The suspect faces a prison sentence of 8 to 12 years for causing grievous bodily harm leading to the victim’s death.

Previously, two Russian citizens on the interstate wanted list for serious crimes were detained in Astana.
