Storm warnings: thunderstorms, hail, and squalls expected in regions

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued storm warnings for various regions of Kazakhstan for Monday, September 8.

Astana – Thunderstorms, hail, and squalls expected at times. Northeast wind, gusts of 15–20 m/s. High fire danger remains.

Shymkent – West and northwest wind during the day, gusts 15–20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists.

Akmola Region – Heavy rain, hail, squalls, and thunderstorms in the north and east during the day. Fog at night and in the morning in the west. NE wind 15–20 m/s across many areas, up to 23 m/s gusts in places. High fire danger in the west, south, and center. Possible thunderstorms in Kokshetau.

Aktobe Region – Thunderstorms expected at night in the south and east. NE wind, gusts up to 15–20 m/s in the north and east. High fire danger in the west and northeast; extreme fire danger in the south, east, and center.

Almaty Region – Thunderstorms possible during the day in mountain areas. West wind, gusts 15–20 m/s in mountains.

Atyrau Region – Extreme fire danger across most areas; high fire danger in the west. Same applies to Atyrau city.

East Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms during the day, hail and squalls in the north and east. Fog at night and in the morning. East to southwest wind 15–20 m/s, gusts up to 25 m/s. High fire danger in the south. Thunderstorms expected in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Zhambyl Region – Thunderstorms possible in mountain areas. NW wind 15–20 m/s in SW, NE, and mountain areas. Extreme fire danger across the region. Same for Taraz.

Karaganda Region – Thunderstorms and squalls in the west, north, and east during the day. NW/W wind, gusts 15–20 m/s in several parts. High fire danger in west and north; extreme in the south. Thunderstorm expected in Karaganda.

Kostanay Region – Thunderstorms in the south and east at night. Fog in the west and north. N/NE wind, gusts 15–20 m/s in southern and eastern parts. Extreme fire danger in the southwest; high elsewhere.

Kyzylorda Region – Thunderstorms in the north, dust storms in the center and east during the day. W/NW wind 15–20 m/s. Extreme fire danger across the region. Dust storm possible in Kyzylorda city.

Mangystau Region – Fog possible in the south at night and morning. Extreme fire danger across the region.

Abai Region – Thunderstorms in the north at night, then hail and squalls in the west, north, and center. SE to SW wind, gusts 23–28 m/s. Thunderstorm expected in Semey, gusts 15–20 m/s.

Zhetysu Region – Thunderstorms in the north, east, center, and mountain areas. West wind, gusts 15–20 m/s in several areas. Thunderstorm expected in Taldykorgan.

Ulytau Region – Thunderstorm during the day, squalls in the east and south. NW/W wind, gusts 15–20 m/s. High fire danger in north and south; extreme in east and center. Thunderstorm expected in Zhezkazgan.

Pavlodar Region – Heavy rain in the west at night. Thunderstorms across much of the region, hail expected in the south and east. NE wind, gusts 15–20 m/s. Thunderstorm expected in Pavlodar city.

North Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms in the south and east during the day. Fog possible in the west and north at night and morning. NE wind, gusts 15–20 m/s.

Turkestan Region – Dust storm expected in the north during morning and daytime. W/NW wind 15–20 m/s in north, west, and mountains. Extreme fire danger throughout the region. Same warning for Turkestan city.

Earlier forecast for September

Forecasters had earlier predicted that September in Kazakhstan would start with a brief cold snap caused by cold air masses from the Salekhard region. Rain and wet snow are possible in the mountain areas of the southeast and east. Most of the country will experience unstable weather with precipitation, thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds. Frosts are likely at night and in the morning in the north, central, and eastern regions, along with fog.
