Storm warnings issued across Kazakhstan as temperatures fall to -30°C

Tengrinews.kz - Storm warnings have been issued for several regions in Kazakhstan for December 9.

On December 9, fog is expected throughout the day in Astana.

In the Akmola region, fog will persist in the west, north, and east.

The Almaty region will experience fog in southern and mountainous areas during the night and morning.

The Turkestan region will see ground blizzards in mountainous areas, with fog expected in the west, south, and foothill regions. Winds in the mountains will reach 15-20 m/s. Fog is also forecast in Shymkent and Turkestan.

In the Abai region, snow and ground blizzards are predicted in the north and east. Northeastern winds of 15-20 m/s are expected, with nighttime temperatures plummeting to -18°C to -23°C, dropping to as low as -27°C in the west and northwest and -30°C in the east.

In the Aktobe region, fog will form in the southern and central areas.

The Atyrau region will experience southeastern winds of 15-20 m/s in the west and south.

In the East Kazakhstan region, heavy snow is expected overnight in the north and east, continuing into the day. Blizzards and northeasterly winds of 15-20 m/s are forecast, with nighttime temperatures dropping from -4°C to -9°C to as low as -18°C to -30°C.

The Zhambyl region will see ground blizzards in mountainous areas, with fog in southern and mountainous regions. Northeasterly winds will reach 15-20 m/s in some areas. Fog is also expected in Taraz.

In the Zhetysu region, fog is predicted in the east and mountainous areas overnight and in the morning. Winds near the Alakol Lakes will reach 15-20 m/s.

The West Kazakhstan region will experience fog in the north and east overnight and in the morning. Fog will also persist in Oral.

The Karaganda region will face a sharp drop in temperatures, with nighttime lows ranging from -12°C to -27°C, depending on the area.

In the Kostanay region, fog is forecast for the east and south.

The Kyzylorda region will experience fog in the north and central areas, with foggy conditions expected in Kyzylorda city.

The Mangystau region will see southeastern winds of 17-22 m/s in the west, south, and central areas. Similar wind speeds are forecast for Aktau.

In the North Kazakhstan region, fog will form overnight and in the morning in the north and east.

Kazhydromet advises residents to exercise caution and prepare for extreme cold and hazardous conditions.
