Tengrinews.kz – Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova has addressed the people of Kazakhstan in connection with recent attacks on medical workers.
Akmaral Alnazarova published a post on Instagram, speaking as “a former maternity ward nurse, an ER doctor in a children's hospital, a duty physician, and a resident.”
“Stop the violence against healthcare workers! It’s impossible to imagine the pain and humiliation, the helplessness and fear felt by doctors and nurses who are saving your children, parents, and loved ones in moments of uncontrolled, unjustified aggression,” she wrote.
The Healthcare Minister recalled two recent attacks on medical staff — in Karaganda and Kostanay. According to her, legislative changes to toughen penalties for attacks on medical workers will be submitted to Parliament in September.
“Due to the increasing number of attacks on medical personnel, together with the Minister of Internal Affairs we have decided to urgently strengthen round-the-clock security posts in emergency hospital departments, children’s and perinatal centers. Medical institutions must be equipped with safety measures — video surveillance, security personnel, and panic buttons,” Alnazarova added.
