Tengrinews.kz – Snowfall continues in Almaty. According to the city police press service, 17 traffic accidents have already been recorded.
The accidents occurred between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., with six people injured.
Police reported that most crashes were caused by failure to maintain distance, unsafe speed, and driver inattention.
With the onset of cold weather, motorists are urged to prepare their vehicles for winter, check mechanical systems, and replace summer tires with winter ones, the press service emphasized.
Almaty police also reminded drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and follow traffic regulations.
As previously reported by the city administration, snow began falling in Almaty around 8 p.m. on November 4. That evening, 918 units of special equipment and 2,550 road workers were deployed to clear the streets. Anti-icing materials are being applied to main roads, bridges, interchanges, slopes, sidewalks, and bus stops.
