Snow and frost – Weather in Kazakhstan for April 15, 16, and 17

Unstable weather ahead

Due to passing atmospheric fronts, unstable weather is expected across much of the country, with rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail. At night, in the northwest, north, east, central regions, and mountainous areas, precipitation may fall as both rain and snow.

Where and when to expect heavy precipitation

• April 15 (night) – Heavy rain and snow in Akmola Region;
• April 15 (night) and April 16 (day) – Heavy precipitation in East Kazakhstan Region;
• April 15 (night) and April 16 (entire day) – In Abai Region;
• April 16 – In Karaganda, Almaty, and Zhetysu Regions.

Fog and frost alerts

Fog is expected throughout the country.

Frosts of –1 to –5°C are forecasted:

• April 15–17: West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, and Abai Regions;
• April 15–16: Atyrau and Akmola Regions;
• April 16: Pavlodar Region;
• April 16–17: Ulytau and Karaganda Regions;
• April 15 & 17: East Kazakhstan Region.

What about the temperature?

• West: Rising from 15–20°C to 17–23°C;
• Southwest: Mainly 15–25°C;
• Northwest: Increasing from 8–16°C to 12–20°C, dropping to 5–10°C on April 17;
• North: Falling from 7–15°C to 0–10°C;
• Center: Rising from 10–18°C to 13–21°C;
• East: Rising from 9–18°C to 10–20°C;
• South: Rising from 15–23°C to 17–25°C;
• Southeast: Falling from 17–23°C to 13–20°C.
