Snow and blizzards: Weather forecast for Astana and Almaty for next 3 days

Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has provided a weather forecast for Astana and Almaty from December 27 to 29.

Astana weather forecast

• December 27: Partly cloudy with light snow during the day and drifting snow. Southwest wind at 9-14 m/s. Temperatures will range from -11°C to -13°C at night and -6°C to -8°C during the day.
• December 28: Partly cloudy with occasional snow and low-level blizzards. Southwest wind at 9-14 m/s, with gusts of 15-20 m/s at night and in the morning. Temperatures will be -6°C to -8°C at night and -3°C to -5°C during the day.
• December 29: Partly cloudy with occasional snow and low-level blizzards. Winds will shift from southwest to northwest at 9-14 m/s. Temperatures will remain between -4°C and -6°C both day and night.

Almaty weather forecast

• December 27: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. Southeast wind at 2-7 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to -5°C to -7°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +1°C to +3°C.
• December 28-29: Partly cloudy and dry. Winds will shift from southeast to southwest at 2-7 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will stay at -5°C to -7°C, with daytime temperatures ranging from +1°C to +3°C.

Earlier, Kazhydromet forecasters warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and eight other cities.

Forecasters also clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
