Sharp weather shift expected in Kazakhstan

According to the forecast, unstable weather is expected in northern, southern, and southwestern Kazakhstan over the coming days as atmospheric fronts pass through. Thunderstorms and rain are forecast, while the east of the country will continue to see overnight precipitation in the form of rain and snow.

"On May 23, the Turkestan, Almaty, and Zhambyl regions will experience heavy rain, hail, and squally winds. On the night of May 24–25, rain may turn to snow in the mountainous areas of the southeast," meteorologists reported.

The rest of the country will remain mostly dry. Increasing winds are expected nationwide, with dust storms in the south and fog during the night and morning hours.

Temperature outlook

Overnight frosts of 1–3 degrees are expected in the northeast, east, and center of Kazakhstan.

A gradual increase in air temperature is expected across the country:

  • daytime temperatures in the west reaching 28–35°C,
  • in the north and center reaching 20–32°C,
  • in the east reaching 17–25°C,
  • in the south reaching 22–35°C,
  • and in the southeast reaching 20–28°C.

Summer 2026 outlook for Kazakhstan

Earlier, forecasters released an advisory weather outlook for the summer of 2026 in Kazakhstan. According to their data, the season is expected to bring a combination of hot spells, brief showers, thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds.
