Tengrinews.kz - The investigation of the criminal case on the fact of a mass accident involving local businessman Sergey Kamaev, in which the driver of one of the cars died, has been completed in Karaganda.
The investigation of the criminal case lasted more than four months. All this time, the Karaganda businessman has been in custody. At the moment, the investigation has been completed and the materials of the criminal case have been sent to the parties for review. This was reported by the head of the Karaganda region police department Negmet Ismagulov. He also noted that the experts did not confirm the need for treatment of the suspect, who claimed to have an epileptic seizure and memory loss during the accident. According to their conclusion, he can appear in court.
"Currently, all necessary examinations and investigative actions have been carried out in the criminal case, according to which Sergey Kamaev does not need compulsory medical measures and can appear in court. After the parties have familiarized themselves with the materials of the criminal case, it will be sent to the supervising prosecutor for further transfer to the court," Negmet Ismagulov said during an online meeting with the population in Karaganda.
The head of the Karaganda Region Department of Police reported that in 2024, 1343 road accidents occurred in the region, in which 191 people died and about 1500 were injured.
"Last year, 1100 drunk drivers were detained. They pose a serious danger on the road. Almost 1500 people were arrested for gross violation of traffic rules. Unfortunately, another common cause of accidents is the lack of discipline of drivers on the roads. This is speeding, ignoring prohibitory signs, driving into the oncoming lane. For prevention, 170 automatic cameras are used on the roads of our region, which record violations by drivers," added Negmet Ismagulov.
Recall that the fatal traffic accident involving six vehicles occurred on September 2 on the busy Amanzholov Street. According to the press service of the Police Department of the Karaganda region, Lexus driver Sergey Kamaev violated the speed limit and crashed into several vehicles on the road. As a result of the mass collision, the driver of the regional agriculture department was killed. Among the injured passengers of one of the cars was a pregnant woman, who was hospitalized with various injuries. She is still receiving treatment.
