Tengrinews.kz – Tomorrow, February 25, at 11:00 AM in Almaty, electric sirens, siren-and-voice devices will be activated, and the broadcast of television and radio channels will be overridden.
According to the Almaty Department for Emergency Situations, the event is being held to test the public warning system as part of the national drills for preparation for the flood season, “Koktem-2026”. During the drills, the “Attention everyone!” signal will be given and sirens will be switched on. The TV and radio signal override system will also be used to transmit a test message.
Upon hearing the signal, it is necessary to:
- turn on a TV or radio receiver;
- check official internet resources and mobile applications;
- carefully read the information being broadcast and the further instructions.
The Almaty Department for Emergency Situations added that the “Koktem-2026” drills will be held in Almaty on February 25–26. As part of the drills, preventive measures will be carried out in various districts of the city to clear riverbeds and the irrigation (aryk) network. It is noted that the current situation regarding potential flood developments is under control.
