Severe frosts to hit Kazakhstan after snowfall

Snow cyclone to hit Kazakhstan

According to the forecast, in the coming days a southern cyclone moving east will cover most of Kazakhstan. Snow is expected, and in the south and southeast of the country there will be mixed precipitation (rain and snow), blizzards, icy conditions, and strengthening winds.

“Under the influence of an anticyclone, the northwest, north, and central parts of the country will see calm, frosty, mostly dry weather,” the forecasters said.

What about temperatures?

At the beginning of the period, cold weather will persist in the western and northern regions, with nighttime air temperatures ranging from -20 to -35 degrees. Later, temperatures at night in the west and north are expected to rise to about -20…-7 degrees, and during the day to about -12…-2 degrees.

In the central, eastern, and southeastern parts of Kazakhstan, cooling is expected: at night temperatures will drop to -3…-18 degrees, in mountain areas to -15…-23, and during the day to around 0…-7 degrees, in mountain areas to -8…-15 degrees.
