Massive road construction will start in Astana on April 4, 2011. This will cause changes in public transport routes, Astana city official website reports. As per the plan of Astana Passenger Transport and Roads Department, 34 km of roads will be built, 26.3 km repaired and 27.7 km modified. From April 7 till June 15 several city streets will be closed for reconstruction, including Zhenis and Imanov streets (Birzhan sal street between Goethe and Yessenberlin streets, Zhenis street between Yessenberlin and Moldagulova streets and Imanova street between Yanushkevich and Brusilovskiy streets). The department plans to lay new utility networks and replace the old ones, build new parking lots, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, install new traffic lights, road signs and expand the driveways. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that construction of road interchanges at the crossing of Raimbek and Momyshuly streets and on the Eastern Bypass Road on Khaliulin street will start in Almaty in 2011.
