Seven Nobel Prize winners to speak at IV Astana Economic Forum

The IV Astana Economic Forum will be held on May 3rd and 4th in Astana, Kazakhstan. This year’s event will help identify new ways to develop the world’s economy by concentrating on three key trends - the Global Economy & Finance, Business & Investment and Economy & Stable Social Development. As of April 20, a total of 3 580 people have been accredited, including 843 attendees from 72 countries. Among those in attendance there will be 7 Nobel Prize winners: James Mirrlees, a Scottish economist and winner of the 1996 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences; Mirrlees is emeritus Professor of Political Economy at the University of Cambridge, and Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. He spends several months a year at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is currently the Distinguished Professor-at-Large of The Chinese University of Hong Kong; John Aumann , an Israeli-American mathematician and Nobel Memorial Prize winner in Economics in 2005 for his work on conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis; Robert Mundell, a Professor of economics at Columbia University and the recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 1999, who laid the groundwork for the introduction of the euro through his pioneering work in monetary dynamics and optimum currency areas; Finn Kydland, a Norwegian economist and a co-recipient of the 2004 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics (shared with Edward C. Prescott), "for their contributions to dynamic macroeconomics: the time consistency of economic policy and the driving forces behind business cycles”; John Nash, an American mathematician and co-recipient of the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with game theorists Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi; Roger Kornberg, an American biochemist and professor of structural biology at Stanford University School of Medicine and recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2006 for his studies of the process by which genetic information from DNA is copied to RNA, "the molecular basis of eukaryotic transcription; And Eric Maskin, an American economist and 2007 Nobel laureate recognized with Leonid Hurwicz and Roger Myerson "for having laid the foundations of mechanism design theory. He is the Albert O. Hirschman Professor of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study, and a visiting Professor at Princeton University. This year’s event will help identify new ways to develop the world’s economy by concentrating on three key trends - the Global Economy & Finance, Business & Investment and Economy & Stable Social Development. The Forum’s will focus on ways of the global economy development, creation of a new reserve currency, issues of the Eurozone, the era of the US Dollar, intergrated national innovation systems, regional currency mechanisms in Eurasia, Islamic finance and its role in the global finance, green economy, and international trade.
