This was announced by the city’s Department of Education on social media on Wednesday evening.

"Due to deteriorating weather conditions (increased wind), on March 12, 2026, students from grades 0–11 (12) and first and second-year college students (based on grade 9) of the first shift will switch to remote learning," the statement said.

It should be noted that due to bad weather on Wednesday, schoolchildren and some first-shift college students were also switched to remote learning. The day before, on March 10, children from grades 0 to 8 of the second shift were learning remotely.

According to meteorologists, on Thursday, Astana is expected to have variable cloud cover, with snow and blizzards at times. Southwest winds at 15–20 meters per second, gusting up to 23–28 meters per second, and occasional gusts of up to 30 meters per second or more at night. Air temperature will be -13 to -15°C at night, and -3 to -5°C during the day.
