Tengrinews.kz - Amendments to Kazakhstan’s Law on Natural Monopolies have come into force, paving the way for significant wage increases for employees in the water management sector, according to the official page of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
Starting in September, the salaries of more than 25,000 workers providing regulated water supply and wastewater services will be raised to align with pay levels in the energy industry. According to the ministry, depending on the region and official statistics, wages will grow by an average of 35 to 50 percent.
Officials from the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, together with the Ministry of National Economy, are currently registering the regulatory acts needed to implement the law.
Work on the amendments began last year, and the bill was signed into law by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in June 2025.
The ministry also noted that in 2024, wages for employees of the state-owned Kazvodkhoz were increased by 25 percent.
Earlier, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection released new figures on the average pension size in the country.
