Tengrinews.kz – The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant has temporarily stopped accepting raw gas from the Kazakh field Karachaganak due to an emergency situation that occurred as a result of a UAV attack, citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
According to Gazprom PJSC, the emergency occurred on 19 October. Information about the nature of the damage and the timetable for restoring the plant’s operations has not yet been provided by the Russian side.
The ministry noted that “gas supply to Kazakhstan is not affected, gas is being supplied to domestic consumers in the normal mode, without any restrictions.”
The ministry also reported that issues related to processing of Karachaganak feedstock and possible impacts on oil production are under review with the subsoil users.
“An assessment of potential losses and further actions will be communicated additionally. The Ministry of Energy is keeping the situation under control and is in continuous interaction with the Russian side and field operators,” the statement reads.
On Sunday, 19 October, the governor of the Orenburg region, Yevgeny Solntsev, reported that as a result of the attack by Ukrainian drones, part of the infrastructure of the gas-processing plant was damaged. One of the workshops caught fire.
“There are no casualties among the enterprise staff. The facility does not pose a threat to the settlement,” the governor said.
