In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Asylov announced that he has tasked special prosecutors with investigating criminal cases linked to several Telegram channels that may have content encouraging suicide among children.
"We will be examining the participants and administrators of these Telegram channels regarding content that may have pushed children towards suicide. Necessary investigative actions will be conducted, and a series of expert evaluations will be appointed," the General Prosecutor wrote.
Additionally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been instructed to investigate all reported suicides in the country for signs of suicide promotion. Berik Asylov emphasized that he is personally overseeing the progress of these investigations. Other social media platforms will also be scrutinized for posts that may promote suicide.
"For foreign websites promoting suicide, we will issue international requests for legal assistance. During the investigation, we will consider the need for amendments to current legislation," the General Prosecutor added.
Asylov had previously commented on the concerning wave of child suicides in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the importance of monitoring each case thoroughly.
