Tengrinews.kz – First Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection Erbol Tuyakbayev named the number of unemployed people in Kazakhstan and the professions that artificial intelligence may replace in the foreseeable future. He was asked about this today on the sidelines of the Senate.
Details
According to the Bureau of National Statistics, the unemployment rate in Kazakhstan stands at 4.6 percent, representing approximately 430,000 people, Erbol Tuyakbayev reported.
"If we look at those who have registered with employment centers following job loss, there are 333,000 people. We are currently maintaining the same unemployment levels as last year," he said.
The Vice Minister was also asked which professions might be replaced by artificial intelligence.
The official responded that, according to the Workforce Development Center, AI could replace accountants and "support staff" within the next 10 years.
"Over the next 10 years, the mass implementation of AI may lead to job cuts. This includes support staff, accountants, and lawyers in roles where human involvement is currently required. We have identified about 300,000 to 400,000 such positions. We are currently focused on retraining these individuals," Tuyakbayev explained.
The Ministry of Labor previously stated that artificial intelligence could affect up to 2.2 million jobs across the country.
First and foremost, professions at risk are those involving a high volume of routine and repetitive tasks: secretaries, assistants, operators, clerks, accountants, and other office personnel. Changes are also expected in sectors such as manufacturing (assembly line workers), transportation (drivers), retail (cashiers), call centers, and agriculture (tractor and combine operators).
At that time, Kazakhstanis were advised to learn other professions so they would not be left without work.
