Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov has held a sitting focused on e-government today, April 27. “A sitting has been held on e-government (…) An ambitious task is to bring the data transmission rate to 100 Mbit per second”, Mr. Massimov wrote in his Twitter account on Wednesday, April 27. April 24 it was reported that Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Communications and Information had set a goal to raise Internet speed to 16 Mbit per second in three years’ time. “Pursuant to the instructions given by Kazakhstan’s PM Karim Massimov, within two weeks’ period the Ministry will submit a plan on 4G and FTTH introduction for the Government’s consideration. The goal is to reach 16 Mbit per second in three years!”, Communications Minister Zhumagaliev wrote in his Twitter account. According to Mr. Kubekov, Vice President of KazContent, there are 4.6 million users of the World Web in Kazakhstan, with 47% of them using its resources on a daily basis. There are 7643 actively developing Kazakhstan-based websites, with only 16% of them offering Kazakh-language content.
