According to the document, the Commission on Constitutional Reform will be headed by Elvira Azimova. The deputy chairs of the commission will be Erlan Karin and Aida Balayeva. Aidar Zharylgapov will serve as the secretary of the commission. The full composition of the commission is available at the link.

It should be recalled that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the signing of a special decree during his speech in Kyzylorda at the 5th National Qurultai.

“In fact, we intend to take a step comparable to the adoption of a new Constitution. Therefore, I have decided to create a Constitutional Commission... The commission will include more than 100 people: members of the National Kurultai, well-known legal scholars, heads of mass media, chairs of maslikhats, representatives of regional public councils and other professionals. This work will be led by the Chair of the Constitutional Court,” the President said.

According to him, the commission will thoroughly review and consolidate all proposals and prepare a draft of specific amendments to the Constitution of Kazakhstan. After that, the date of the nationwide referendum will be determined.
