Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed a new Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, according to Akorda.
Nurlan Sauranbayev has been named to the post.
“Appoint Nurlan Sauranbayev as the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the decree states.
As a reminder, on June 8, by presidential decree, Marat Karabayev was relieved of his duties as Minister of Transport. This followed a reprimand from the Head of State: on May 14, during a Security Council meeting on the development of the transport and logistics sector, the President reprimanded Karabayev. In particular, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev criticized the state of the transport sector, whose modernization is being held back by systemic issues and unfulfilled plans. The President pointed out problems with cargo clearance at the border, the poor condition of many checkpoints, and delays in major infrastructure transit projects.
