Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Washington on a working visit.
This was reported on Thursday, 19 February, by the Akorda press service.
As part of the visit, the Head of State will take part in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council and hold a number of meetings with leaders of foreign countries as well as U.S. officials.
It was previously reported that Tokayev, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, would pay a working visit to Washington on 18–19 February to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council.
The summit is expected to focus on stabilizing the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as developing practical steps to ensure peace, security and sustainable humanitarian support in the region.
Earlier, on January 22, Tokayev arrived in Davos to attend the signing ceremony of the Peace Council charter, established at the initiative of President Donald Trump. Kazakhstan was invited to become one of the founding states, and Tokayev was among the first leaders to receive an official invitation to join the Council on Gaza.

According to Washington’s vision, the Peace Council will be responsible for strategic oversight, mobilizing international resources and monitoring commitments related to Gaza’s peaceful development.
The founding executive board will consist of seven members — described by the White House as leaders with experience in diplomacy, development, infrastructure and economic strategy. Each member will oversee a separate area considered critical for stabilizing Gaza.
In addition, a Gaza executive board will be formed to supervise the activities of the new government in the enclave. The body will include 11 members, four of whom will also serve on the founding executive board.
