In Astana, the police stopped the activities of a criminal group of three individuals who were stealing cables using the "mole" method. They carried out the thefts at night, entering underground manholes through sewer hatch covers.
During a search at the sales location, police discovered seven bags of stripped copper cable products and three radios. They also seized electronic and mechanical scales and copper cable products from the buyer.
The members of the group confessed to their actions and confirmed their involvement in five thefts, including the theft of copper busbars from a transformer substation. They are currently being held in a temporary detention facility, and a pre-trial investigation is underway.
